Generator Bracket Replacement (LGH)

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
2. Remove the fan assembly. Refer to fan replacement Fan Replacement (Fan Replacement).




3. Remove the engine harness retainer nut (1) and engine harness ground terminal bolt (3). Reposition engine harness and ground terminal (2)..
4. Reposition the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (LLY, LBZ) (Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement)Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (LMM) (Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement).
5. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (V6) (Generator Replacement)Generator Replacement (V8) (Generator Replacement)Generator Replacement (LMM) (Generator Replacement)Generator Replacement (LGH) (Generator Replacement).




7. Remove the inlet pipe bracket bolts (1) from the generator bracket and the inlet manifold tube.




8. Remove the generator bracket nuts (1) and bolt (2) from the cylinder block. Remove the generator bracket (3).
9. If replacing the generator bracket, remove the idler pulleys (4) and transfer to the new generator bracket.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Position the generator bracket to the engine and install the nuts (1) and bolt (2). Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).




2. Install the inlet pipe bracket bolts (1) to the generator bracket and intake manifold tube. Tighten to 25 Nm (17 lb ft).
3. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (LLY, LBZ) (Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement)Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (LMM) (Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement).




4. Install the engine harness retainer bracket and nut (1). Tighten to 25 Nm (17 lb ft).
5. Install the engine harness ground terminal (2) and bolt (3). Tighten to 25 Nm (17 lb ft).
6. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (V6) (Generator Replacement)Generator Replacement (V8) (Generator Replacement)Generator Replacement (LMM) (Generator Replacement)Generator Replacement (LGH) (Generator Replacement).
8. Install the fan assembly. Refer to Fan Replacement (Fan Replacement).
9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
