Exhaust Manifold Outlet Pipe Replacement - Left Side (LMM/LGH)

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning (Exhaust Service Warning).


1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the exhaust manifold outlet pipe heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement (Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement).




3. Remove the exhaust manifold outlet pipe bolts in the proper sequence.




4. Remove the exhaust manifold outlet pipe bolts (1) and replace gaskets (2) with NEW gaskets.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold outlet pipe (3).

Installation Procedure




1. Install a NEW gasket to the left exhaust manifold with the tab (1) facing downward.
2. Install a NEW gasket to the turbocharger with the tab (2) facing inward.




3. Position the exhaust manifold outlet pipe (3) and loosely install the turbocharger/exhaust manifold bolts (1).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Tighten the exhaust pipe bolts in the sequence shown to 53 Nm (39 lb ft).
5. Install the exhaust manifold outlet pipe heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Right Manifold Outlet Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Right Manifold Outlet Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Left Manifold Outlet Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Left Manifold Outlet Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Transmission Cross Member (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Transmission Cross Member)).
6. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
