Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement
Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (LLT) (3.6L)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the high pressure pump shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Relieve the low side fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief (With CH-48027) (Fuel Pressure Relief (With CH-48027))Fuel Pressure Relief (Without CH-48027) (Fuel Pressure Relief (Without CH-48027)).
4. Disconnect the fuel feed line quick connect fitting from the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
5. Loosen the fuel feed pipe fitting to the high pressure fuel pump.
6. Remove the fuel feed pipe bolts (4) from the cylinder heads.
7. Remove the fuel feed pipe from the engine and high pressure fuel pump.
Installation Procedure
1. Ensure that the fuel feed pipe and fuel pump fittings are clean and dry prior to assembly.
2. Position the fuel feed pipe (2) to the cylinder head and high pressure fuel pump.
3. Install the fuel feed pipe fitting to the high pressure fuel pump hand tight.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution)
4. Install the fuel feed pipe bolts (4).
1. Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
2. Tighten the fitting to28 Nm (20 lb ft).
5. Connect the fuel feed line quick connect fitting to the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
Important: If a fuel leak accrues at the high pressure fuel pump, the pump will need to be replaced.
6. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
2. Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
7. Install the low side fuel pressure service port cap.
8. Install the fuel tank cap.
9. Install the high pressure pump shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
10. Install the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
