Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement (6.6L)
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the oil cooler lines from the radiator.
3. If equipped with the auxiliary transmission oil cooler, remove the outlet pipe from the auxiliary cooler pipe.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
5. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines from the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the oil cooler lines from the transmission.
7. Remove the oil cooler lines from the clips on the frame rail.
Important: Note the routing of the transmission lines to ensure proper installation.
8. Remove the cooler lines from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the transmission oil cooler line to the vehicle.
Important: Do not reuse any of the existing retaining rings that were removed from the existing quick connect fittings. All retaining rings being installed must be New.
2. Install the new retaining ring (E-clip) into the quick connect fitting.
Important: Ensure the transmission lines are position in the support bracket and the clips are installed.
3. Install the transmission oil cooler lines to the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. If equipped with the auxiliary oil cooler, install the inlet line to the radiator and the outlet to the auxiliary cooler line.
6. Install the oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
7. Fill the transmission to proper level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check (4L80-E/4L85-E Automatic Transmission).
