Auxiliary Generator Replacement




Auxiliary Generator Replacement

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).

1. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 7.0L) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (6.6L) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Disconnect the auxiliary generator electrical connector.
4. Remove the positive cable from the auxiliary generator, perform the following:

1. Slide the boot down to access the terminal stud.
2. Remove the positive cable nut.
3. Remove the positive cable.




5. Remove the auxiliary generator bolts (3).
6. Remove the auxiliary generator (4).

Installation Procedure




1. Position the auxiliary generator (4).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the auxiliary generator bolts (3) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
3. Install the positive cable to the auxiliary generator, perform the following:

1. Position the positive cable.
2. Install the positive cable nut and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Slide the boot to cover the terminal stud.

4. Connect the generator electrical connector.
5. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the upper shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 7.0L) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (6.6L) (Service and Repair).
