Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

Disconnect Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution) .
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Technician Safety Information) .





1. Record all of the preset radio stations.
2. Turn OFF all the lamps and the accessories.
3. Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
4. Remove the rear floor trim plate. Refer to Rear Floor Trim Plate Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Loosen the negative battery cable nut (1).
7. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery.



Connect Procedure

Important: Clean any existing oxidation from the contact face of the battery terminal and battery cable using a wire brush before installing the battery cable to the battery terminal.







1. Install the negative battery cable to the battery.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Tighten the negative battery cable nut (1).

Tighten the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

3. Install the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Install the rear floor trim plate. Refer to Rear Floor Trim Plate Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Reset the radio stations and the clock.
