Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution.

Caution: Refer to Restraint System Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
2. Remove the right knee bolster bracket.
3. Remove the instrument panel trim pad.
4. Remove the body control module.
5. Disconnect the instrument panel inflatable restraint module electrical connector.




6. Remove the upper bolts (3) from the instrument panel inflatable restraint module (1).
7. Remove the lower bolts (2) from the instrument panel inflatable restraint module (1).
8. Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint module (1).
9. Ensure that the instrument panel inflatable restraint module is fully deployed before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module (1) to the instrument panel inflatable restraint carrier.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the lower bolts (2) hand tight.
3. Install the lower bolts (3) to the inflatable restraint instrument panel inflatable restraint module.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Connect the electrical connector to the instrument panel inflatable restraint module.
5. Install the right knee bolster bracket.
6. Install the body control module.
7. Install the instrument panel trim pad.
8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
