Crankshaft Balancer Replacement

* J 44643 Flywheel Holding Tool
* J 45059 Angle Meter
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (4.3L) Starter Motor Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L) Starter Motor Replacement (6.6L) .
2. Install the J 44643 in order to hold the flywheel.
3. Remove the radiator fan clutch assembly. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.
6. Remove the crankshaft balancer.
Installation Procedure
1. Lightly lubricate the crankshaft balancer internal hub with engine oil.
2. Install the crankshaft balancer to the crankshaft.
3. Lightly lubricate the crankshaft balancer bolt with engine oil.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .
4. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt and washer.
1. Tighten the bolt a first pass to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
2. Tighten the bolt a final pass an additional 90 degrees using the J 45059 .
5. Install the radiator fan clutch assembly. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the J 44643 .
8. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (4.3L) Starter Motor Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L) Starter Motor Replacement (6.6L) .
