Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooling Pipe Replacement - Upper
Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers
1. Remove the engine cover.
Caution: To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap is removed while the engine and radiator are still hot.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Reposition the EGR cooler pipe clamp (1) and remove the EGR cooler pipe hose from the EGR cooler tube.
4. Remove the upper EGR cooler pipe bolt.
5. Remove the lower EGR cooler pipe bolt (1).
6. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
7. Remove the EGR cooler pipe bolt (1) and bracket (2).
8. Remove the EGR cooler pipe from the engine.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the EGR cooler pipe to the engine.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
2. Install the EGR cooler pipe bracket (2) and bolt (1).
Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Install the lower EGR cooler pipe bolt (1).
5. Install the upper EGR cooler pipe bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
6. Install the EGR cooler pipe hose to the EGR cooler tube and reposition the EGR cooler pipe clamp (1).
7. Fill the cooling system.
8. Install the engine cover.
