Park Brake Cable Replacement - Intermediate
Removal Procedure
1. Ensure that the park brake is released.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. If vehicle is a 1500 series with the first design cable, perform the following:
1. Relieve tension on the park brake cables by pulling down on the front park brake cable (1) just in front of the equalizer.
2. Remove the park brake cables (2, 3) from the equalizer bar.
4. If vehicle is a 1500 series with the second design or a 2500 series, perform the following:
1. Remove the nut from the threaded end of the intermediate cable.
2. Disconnect the equalizer from the rear park brake cables.
5. Disconnect the intermediate cable from the front cable.
6. Remove the intermediate cable.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the intermediate cable.
2. Connect the intermediate cable to the front cable.
3. Connect the equalizer to the rear park brake cables.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. If vehicle is a 1500 series with the second design or a 2500 series, install the nut to the threaded end of the intermediate cable.
^ Tighten the nut to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).
5. If vehicle is a 1500 series with the first design cable, install the brake cables (2, 3) to the equalizer
6. Remove the safety stands.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Adjust the park brake system.
