Removal Procedure
1. Remove the differential assembly.
2. For the 8.6 inch axle and 10.5 inch axle with RPO G80, remove the differential side bearing by performing the following steps:
2.1. Install the differential assembly in a vise.
2.2. Install the J22888-20A (2) and the J8107-4, 8.6 inch axle, or the J8107-3, 10.5 inch axle (1) as shown.
2.3. Remove the differential side bearing using the J22888-20A.
3. Remove the differential assembly from the vise.
4. For the 9.75 inch axle, remove the differential side bearings by performing the following steps:
4.1. Install the J45711 (2) and the J36597 (1) as shown.
4.2. Remove the differential side bearing using the J45711 and a hydraulic press.
5. For the 10.5 inch axle without RPO G80, remove the differential side bearing cage and roller bearings from the inner bearing race.
6. Remove the inner bearing race from the differential assembly using a suitable method that will not damage the differential case.
Installation Procedure
1. In order to protect the differential case, install the J8107-4, 3.6 inch axle, or the J36597, 9.75 inch axle, or J8107-3, 10.5 inch axle, in the case on the side opposite the bearing installation.
2. Install the bearing on top of the differential case.
3. Install the differential side bearing onto the differential case by doing the following:
3.1. Install one of the following side bearing installers to the J8092 (1) and place over the differential side bearing as shown:
- For the 8.6 inch axle, use J21784 (2)
- For the 9.75 inch without RPO G80 or 10.5 inch axles, use J24430 or the J45900 (2)
- For the 9.75 inch with RPO G80, use DT46725 (2)
3.2. Drive the bearing onto the differential case using the J21784, the J24430, the J45900, or the DT46725 and the J8092.
4. Install the differential assembly.
