Intake Manifold Replacement - Left
Removal Procedure





1. Remove the air cleaner.
2. Remove the upper radiator fan shroud.
3. Remove the radiator fan.
4. Remove the engine cover.
5. Remove the center intake manifold.
6. Remove the left fuel rail.
7. Remove the intake manifold bolts/nuts.

Important: The intake manifold uses sealer. Pry at the area by the fuel rail bolt holes in order to avoid damage to the sealing surface.

8. Remove the intake manifold.
9. To prevent entry of debris into the cylinder head, tape the openings.
10. If required, clean and inspect the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Cleaning and Inspection.

Installation Procedure





1. Apply a 2 - 3 mm (1/8 inch) wide, by 0.5 - 1.5 mm (1/16 inch) high bead of sealant, GM P/N 97720043 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent to the intake manifold.





2. Install the intake manifold.
3. Install the intake manifold bolts/nuts.

Left Side:





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Tighten the intake manifold bolts/nuts in the sequence shown.
Tighten the bolts/nuts to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the left fuel rail.
6. Install the center intake manifold.
7. Install the radiator fan.
8. Install the upper radiator fan shroud.
9. Install the air cleaner.
10. Install the engine cover.
