ONSTAR BUTTON ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the courtesy lamp lens.
2. Remove the screw near the courtesy lamp.
3. Grasp the overhead console and pull downward in order to disengage the fasteners.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the overhead console.




5. Remove the screws securing the OnStar(R) button assembly (4) to the overhead console.
6. Remove the OnStar(R) Microphone from the OnStar(R) button assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the OnStar(R) Microphone into the OnStar(R) button assembly.
2. Position the OnStar(R) button assembly (4) to the overhead console.
3. Install the screws to secure the OnStar(R) button assembly to the overhead console.

Tighten the nuts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




4. Connect the electrical connectors.
5. Align the overhead console within the vehicle.
6. Press up on the overhead console engaging the fasteners in order to secure the console to the vehicle.
7. Install the overhead console screw.

Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

8. Install the courtesy lamp lens.
