Pilot Bearing: Service and Repair

Pilot Bearing Replacement

^ Tools required
- J 34839 Pinion Bearing Remover
- J 37764 Input Shaft Bearing Remover Adapter
- J 23907 Slide Hammer with Bearing Adapter
- J 7079-2 Universal Driver Handle Non-Threaded
- J 34848 Clutch Pilot Bearing Installer

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the manual transmission assembly from the vehicle.
2. Remove the pressure plate and the clutch disc from the flywheel.





3. Remove the clutch pilot bearing (1) from the crankshaft using the J 37764, J 34839 and the J 123907.
4. Inspect the clutch pilot bearing (1) for scoring, binding or rough operation.
5. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the clutch bearing into the crankshaft using the J 34848 with the J 7079-2.
2. Install the clutch disc and the pressure plate to the flywheel (1).
3. Install the manual transmission assembly into the vehicle.
