Transfer Case Adapter Seal Replacement

^ Tools Required
- J 6125-B Slide Hammer
- J 23129 Universal Seal Remover
- J 37752 Case Seal Installer
- J 36850 Transjel Lubricant

Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Support the transmission with a suitable hydraulic jack.
3. Remove the transfer case from the vehicle.





4. Remove the transfer adapter case seal (1) from the transfer adapter case using the J 23129 and the J 6125-B.
5. Inspect the transfer adapter case for cracks and other damage. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure
1. Apply a thin coat of J 36850 to the transfer adapter case seal surface.





2. Install the new transfer adapter case seal into the transfer adapter case using a J 37752.
3. Apply J 36850 to the new transfer adapter case seal lip.
4. Install the transfer case into the vehicle.
5. Remove the hydraulic jack from under the transmission.
6. Lower the vehicle.
