Shock Absorber Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Support the rear axle housing (1) by using a floor jack.





3. Remove the shock absorber nut (1).
4. Remove the lower mounting nut (8) and the lower mounting bolt (7).
5. Remove the following components:
- The shock absorber (6)
- The upper support (2)
- The upper bushing (3)
- The lower bushing (4)
- The lower support (5)

Installation Procedure

Important:
- Use a new shock absorber nut (1) when installing the shock absorber.
- DO NOT tighten the fasteners before lowering the vehicle. The weight of the vehicle must be on the tires and wheels before tightening the fasteners.





1. Install the following components to the vehicle:
- The shock absorber (4)
- The upper support
- The upper bushing (2)
- The lower bushing (3)
- The lower support
- The shock absorber nut (1)





2. Secure the shock absorber to the lower bracket with the lower mounting bolt (2) and the lower mounting nut.
3. Remove the floor jack.
4. Lower the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. With the weight of the vehicle on the tires and wheels, tighten the nuts and the bolt.
- Tighten the upper shock absorber nut to 29 Nm (21.0 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the lower shock absorber nut and bolt (2) to 100 Nm (73.8 ft. lbs.).
