Brake Switch (Cruise Control): Service and Repair
CRUISE RELEASE SWITCH REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Remove the knee bolster from the instrument panel.
3. Remove the cruise control release switch electrical connector from the cruise control release switch.
4. Loosen the cruise control release switch lock nut.
5. Remove the cruise control release switch (1) from the brake pedal bracket by turning counterclockwise.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the cruise control release switch (1) into the brake pedal bracket by turning clockwise.
2. Adjust the cruise control release switch (1) by inserting the probes of the DMM into either side of the cruise control release switch electrical connector.
3. Depress the clutch pedal (2) to within 20-30 mm (0.8-1.2 in) from the floor (1).
4. Screw the cruise control release switch clockwise into the brake pedal bracket until continuity is obtained.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Tighten the cruise control release switch lock nut to 13 N.m (115 lb in).
5. Install the cruise control release switch electrical connector to the cruise control release switch.
6. Install the knee bolster from the instrument panel.
