INFLATABLE RESTRAINT STEERING WHEEL MODULE COIL REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3.

IMPORTANT: In the event of deployment, inspect the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) coil assembly wire for any signs of scorching, melting or other damage due to excessive heat. If there is damage to the coil assembly, replace the coil assembly.

2. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.
3. Remove the IP steering column opening trim plate.




4. Remove the 3 screws from the steering column lower cover (2).
5. Separate the upper cover and the lower cover, then remove them.
6. Disconnect all connectors for the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and combination switch assembly.
7. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and combination switch assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and combination switch (1) to the steering column.
2. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and combination switch electrical connectors (3, 4).
3. Secure the SIR coil and combination switch wiring harness to the steering column with the retaining bands.
4. Install the upper steering column cover and the lower steering column cover to the steering column.




5. Secure the steering column covers with the 3 screws (2).
6. Install the IP steering column opening trim plate.
7. Install the steering wheel to the steering column.
8. Enable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3.
