Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.
4. Disconnect the fuel inlet hose (2) from the fuel filter (1).
5. Disconnect the fuel outlet hose (4) from the fuel filter (1).
6. Remove the retaining bolt (3) from the fuel filter bracket.
7. Remove the fuel filter (1) and the bracket from the vehicle.
8. Loosen the fuel filter bracket bolt and remove the fuel filter from the bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the fuel filter to the fuel filter bracket.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Tighten the bracket bolt to 11 N.m(8 lb ft).
2. Install the fuel filter (1) and the bracket to the vehicle.
3. Secure the fuel filter bracket to the vehicle with the retaining bolt (3).
Tighten
Tighten the bracket retaining bolt to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).
4. Reconnect the fuel outlet hose (4) to the fuel filter (1).
5. Reconnect the fuel inlet hose (2) to the fuel filter.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
8. Start the engine.
9. Inspect for fuel leaks and repair as necessary.
