Backup Lamp Switch: Service and Repair

BACKUP LAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove transmission.

IMPORTANT: The transmission must be lowered at least 8 inches to gain access to the back up lamp switch.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the backup lamp switch.




4. Remove the backup lamp switch (1) from the manual transmission upper case (2).
5. Inspect the backup lamp switch O-ring for cuts or damage. Replace the backup lamp switch O-ring if necessary.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the backup lamp switch (1) to the manual transmission upper case (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the backup lamp switch to 20 N.m (14 lb ft).




2. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the backup lamp switch.
3. Raise transmission and reinstall components.
4. Lower the vehicle.
