36. Oil Pump Disassemble
Oil Pump DisassembleImportant:
- Do not remove the oil pump sprocket. Damage to the oil pump drive shaft or abnormal oil pump operation may result.
- If the oil pump is found to be damaged, or worn excessively replace the oil pump as an assembly.
1. Remove the 5 bolts and separate the oil pump halves.
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Remove the retainer (2), the spring (3) and the relief valve (4).
3. Apply light air pressure to the oil jet. Inspect the oil jet for damage or clogging.
4. Remove and inspect the relief valve. Coat the relief valve with oil and check that it falls smoothly into the valve hole by its own weight.
