Drum Brake Hardware Inspection





1. Visually inspect the shoe hold down pins (1) and the shoe hold down springs (2) for the following:
^ Excessive corrosion
^ Damaged or bent pins
^ Broken spring coils





2. Visually inspect the upper return spring (1) and the lower return spring (4) for the following: Excessive corrosion Excessive stretching Broken hook ends Twisting Binding
3. Visually inspect the strut, the strut spring (3), and the pawl lever (6) for the following:
^ Excessive corrosion
^ Damage
^ Binding
4. Replace the drum brake system hardware If necessary.
