Seat Back Hinge/Recliner Mechanism Replace - Front (All Except Luxury)

Removal Procedure

The front seatback recliner mechanism is mounted to the inboard side of the seat. The outboard hinge bolts to the seatback and the seat bottom.

1. Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (All Except Luxury) (Seat Replacement - Bucket (All Except Luxury))Seat Replacement - Bucket (Luxury Y91) (Seat Replacement - Bucket (Luxury RPO Y91)) .




2. Release the seat cushion cover in order to access the bolts that retain the hinge or recliner mechanism (2) to the seat cushion frame. Refer to Seat Cushion Cover Replacement - Front (All Except Luxury) (Seat Cushion Cover Replacement - Front (All Except Luxury))Seat Cushion Cover Replacement - Front (Luxury Y91) (Seat Cushion Cover Replacement - Front (Luxury Y91)) .
3. Release the seatback cover and lift enough to access the bolts that retain the hinge or recliner mechanism to the seatback. Refer to Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front (All Except Luxury) (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front (All Except Luxury))Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front (Luxury Y91) (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front (Luxury Y91)) .
4. Remove the bolts that retain the hinge/recliner mechanism to the seatback frame.
5. Remove the bolts that retain the hinge/recliner mechanism to the seat cushion frame.
6. Remove the hinge/recliner mechanism from the seat assembly.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the hinge/recliner mechanism (2) to the seat assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolts in order to retain the hinge/recliner mechanism to the seatback frame.

Tighten the bolts in order to retain the hinge/recliner mechanism to the seatback frame to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

3. Install the bolts in order to retain the hinge/recliner mechanism to the seat cushion frame.

Tighten the bolts in order to retain the hinge/recliner mechanism to the seat cushion frame to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

4. Install the front seatback cover. Refer to Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front (All Except Luxury) (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front (All Except Luxury))Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front (Luxury Y91) (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front (Luxury Y91)) .
5. Install the front seat cushion cover. Refer to Seat Cushion Cover Replacement - Front (All Except Luxury) (Seat Cushion Cover Replacement - Front (All Except Luxury))Seat Cushion Cover Replacement - Front (Luxury Y91) (Seat Cushion Cover Replacement - Front (Luxury Y91)) .
6. Install the front seat to the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (All Except Luxury) (Seat Replacement - Bucket (All Except Luxury))Seat Replacement - Bucket (Luxury Y91) (Seat Replacement - Bucket (Luxury RPO Y91)) .
