Oil Pump Drive Shaft: Service and Repair
Oil Pump Drive ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Disconnect both of the battery negative cables from the batteries.
2. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle.
3. Remove the turbocharger.
4. Remove the Oil pump drive clamp retaining bolt.
5. Remove the Oil pump drive clamp.
6. Remove the Oil pump drive.
7. Remove and discard the gasket.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the new gasket to the Oil pump drive.
Important: Clean the bore and apply a small amount of clean engine Oil in the bore and the seal for the Oil pump drive gear. The Oil pump drive gear should slide into place with slight resistance. Do not force the Oil pump drive gear into place.
2. Install the Oil pump drive to the engine.
^ Index the drive with the camshaft gear and the Oil pump drive shaft.
^ Make sure the drive seats fully.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the clamp and the bolt.
^ Tighten the bolt to 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the turbocharger.
5. Install the engine cover.
6. Connect the battery negative cables to the batteries.
