Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair

EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CANISTER PURGE VALVE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the fuel injection sight shield retaining bolt (3).
2. Remove the fuel injection sight shield (2).




3. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve harness connector (1).




4. To disconnect the EVAP purge pipe connector (1), slide the retaining tab (2) to the release position and separate the connection.




5. Disconnect the EVAP purge pipe connector from the EVAP canister purge valve.
6. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve retaining bolt (2).
7. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve (1).
8. Inspect for carbon particles in the EVAP canister purge valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Cleaning.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the EVAP canister purge valve (1) on the intake manifold.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the EVAP canister purge valve retaining bolt (2).

Tighten
Tighten the EVAP purge valve retaining bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




3. To connect the purge pipe connector (1), press the components together in order to snap the tab (2) in place.
4. Connect the purge pipe to the EVAP canister purge valve.




5. Connect the EVAP canister purge valve harness connector (1).




6. Install the fuel injection sight shield (2).
7. Install the fuel injection sight shield retaining bolt (3).

Tighten
Tighten the fuel injection sight shield to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
