Oil Pump Drive Shaft: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the intake manifold.
2. Remove the oil pump drive bolt.
3. Remove the oil pump drive.
4. Clean and inspect the oil pump drive.

Installation Procedure





1. Apply grease to the oil pump drive gear for ease of assembly.

Important: Correct alignment of the oil pump drive and oil pump driveshaft is critical. Make sure both components mate correctly, or engine damage may occur.

2. Line up the oil pump drive, making sure that the oil pump drive is fully seated in the engine block.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the oil pump drive bolt.
^ Tighten the oil pump drive bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the manifold.
