Fuel Hoses/Pipes Replacement - Front High Pressure Lock-Off (HPL) to High Pressure Regulator (HPR) Union

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 41416 Ultrasonic Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
^ Refer to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Flammability Caution in Service Precautions.
^ Refer to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fuel Pressure Relief Caution in Service Precautions

1. Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the fuel tank shield.
4. Disconnect the fuel line fitting (1) at the line union (2).




5. Disconnect the fuel line (4) from the front tank high pressure lock-off (2) fitting.
6. Remove the fuel line assembly from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the fuel line assembly between the front tank and the fuel line union.

CAUTION: Refer to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) O-Ring Caution in Service Precautions.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Connect the fuel line (4) to the front tank high pressure lock-off (2) fitting using new O-rings. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly before installation.

Tighten
Tighten the fuel line fitting to 37 N.m (27 lb ft).




3. Connect the fuel line (1) to the line union fitting (2) using new O-rings. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly before installation.

Tighten
Tighten the fuel line fitting to 37 N.m (27 lb ft).

4. Connect the negative battery cable.
5. Prime the CNG fuel system by cycling the ignition ON and OFF several times.
6. Stan the engine and use the J 41416 in order to inspect for CNG fuel system leaks at each serviced fitting.
7. Install the fuel tank shield.
