Park Brake Cable Replacement- Rear

^ Tools Required
- J 37043 Park Brake Cable Release Tool

Removal Procedure





1. Install the pin into the park brake pedal.
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Loosen the cable at the cable adjuster.
4. Disconnect the front cable from the rear cables.
5. Remove the rear brake shoes from the backing plate.





6. Using the J 37043, disconnect the cable from the backing plate retainer.
7. Remove the rear cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the rear cable to the vehicle.
2. Connect the rear cable to the backing plate retainer.
3. Install the rear brake shoes to the backing plate.





4. Connect the front cable to the rear cables.
5. Remove the pin from the park brake pedal.
6. Place the lever to the FULL up position.





7. Measure the threads of the equalizer. Adjust the threads to the following specifications:
^ Passenger/Cargo to 13 mm (0.511 inch)
^ Cutaway/Upfitters to 21 mm (0.826 inch)
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Verify that the vehicle will hold the position with the brake lever depressed.
