Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair

FRONT EXHAUST PIPE AND EXHAUST BRAKE ASSEMBLY





Remove or Disconnect (Figure 1)

- Battery negative cable.
1. Exhaust brake hose.
2. Exhaust brake bracket (2).
3. Front exhaust pipe (1) from the manifold.
4. Bolts holding the exhaust brake to the exhaust pipes
5. Exhaust brake assembly (2).

Install or Connect (Figure 1)
1. Manifold and front exhaust pipe to the manifold.

Tighten
- Nuts to 67 N.m (49 lb.ft).

2. Exhaust brake assembly (2).
3. Bolts holding the exhaust brake to the exhaust pipes.

Tighten
- Nuts to 17 N.m (12 lb.ft)


4. Exhaust brake hose.
- Be sure the exhaust brake hose overlap is 30 mm (1.181 in). This will prevent the hose from contacting the exhaust pipe.
- Battery negative cable.
