Steering Wheel - Installation
1. If you DID replace the steering column, ensure the front wheels and tires did not move.2. If you DID NOT replace the steering column, ensure the front wheels and tires are aligned in the straight ahead position.
3. If necessary, center the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering-Off Vehicle.
4. If you are replacing the steering wheel, use paint in order to place alignment marks (2) on the new steering wheel in the same position as on the old steering wheel.
Notice: When installing the steering wheel, ensure that the 2 tabs on the SIR coil align with the 2 slots on the steering wheel mounting surface. Failure to align the tabs may cause incorrect alignment of some components during installation. This may damage the SIR coil.
5. Install the steering wheel (3) to the steering shaft. Fit the 2 tabs on the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (5) into the 2 slots in the back of the steering wheel (4). Align the marks (1) on the steering wheel and on the steering shaft.
6. Ensure the steering wheel is in the straight ahead position when the tires and wheels are in the straight ahead position.

7. Install the steering shaft nut (2).
- Tighten the steering shaft nut to 33 Nm (23.5 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module to the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
