Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Remove the throttle body.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the fuel injector (2).
4. Remove the hold down bracket at the rear of the intake manifold.
5. Remove the hold down bracket bolts (1) from the intake manifold.
6. Remove the bracket (2).
7. Remove the high pressure and return hoses (2) from the fuel pipes.
8. Remove the hold down bracket bolt (1) for the fuel pipes (2).
9. Remove the 3 retaining bolts (1) for the fuel rail (3).
10. Remove the fuel rail.
11. Remove the fuel injectors (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Apply a thin coat of motor oil to the fuel injectors O-rings.
2. Install the fuel injectors (2) to the fuel rail (3).
3. Install the fuel rail (3) to the intake manifold.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
4. Install the 3 retaining bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
5. Install the fuel pipes (2) hold down bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).
6. Install the intake manifold reinforcement bracket (2).
7. Install both retaining bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).
8. Connect the electrical connectors (1) to the fuel injectors (2).
9. Install the scan tool.
10. Turn the ignition On, leaving the engine off.
11. Activate the fuel pump.
12. Check for leaks and repair as necessary.
