Accelerator Cable Adjustment




1. With the throttle valve closed, inspect the accelerator pedal free play (1). The accelerator pedal free play clearance should be 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in).




2. Loosen the accelerator cable locknut (2) at the throttle body bracket.
3. Turn the accelerator cable adjusting nut (1) in order to obtain the specified accelerator pedal free play.
4. Repeat Step 1 thru Step 3 until the accelerator pedal free play is within the specified value.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

5. Install the accelerator cable locknut (2).

Tighten
Tighten the accelerator cable locknut to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).




6. With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, inspect the clearance (2) between the throttle lever (3) and the throttle stop (1). The accelerator cable end play clearance should be 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in) (M/T) and 0.8-1.5 mm (0.03-0.06 in) (A/T).




7. Adjust the height of the accelerator pedal stop (1) in order to obtain the specified accelerator cable end play. Refer to Step 6 for specifications.
