Hood: Service and Repair



Hood Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and suitably support the hood.
2. Install protective covers over the front fenders in order to prevent paint damage.
3. Mark the position of the hood hinges (4) to the hood (1) in order to ease in the reassembly process.

Notice: Refer to Tape Corners of Panel Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Remove the 2 bolts (3) which secure the hood (1) to the hood hinge (4).

Notice: Anti-corrosion compounds have been applied to the interior surfaces of some metal panels to provide rust resistance. When servicing these panels in areas on which this material has been disturbed, or when installing new panels, avoid corrosion damage by coating with anti-corrosion compound.

5. Remove the hood (1) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the hood (1) to the hood hinge (4) by positioning the hood according to the markings made on the hood. Secure the hood to each hinge (4) with the 2 retaining bolts (3). Do not fully tighten the bolts.
2. Adjust the hood to air inlet grille clearance, the hood to headlamp clearance and the hood to front fender clearance. Refer to Body Panel Adjustment (Adjustments) .





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Turn the hood front bumpers (1) for vertical alignment.

Tighten the hood retaining bolts to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

4. Remove the protective covers from the front fenders.
5. Lower the hood.
