Rear Oil Seal and/or Bearing Replacement

^ Tools Required
- J2619-01 Slide Hammer
- J22813-01 Axle Bearing Puller
- J23765Axle Shaft Bearing Installer
- J23771 Axle Shaft Seal Installer

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove the brake drum or rotor.
3. Remove the axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement.
4. Remove the seal. Use a seal removal tool behind the steel case of the seal. Do NOT damage the housing.





5. Remove the bearing. Use the J2619-01 and the J22813-01 as shown. Ensure that the tangs of the tool engage the bearing outer race.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the bearing using the J23765 until the tool bottoms against the housing shoulder.
2. Lubricate the bearing using axle lubricant.





3. Install the seal (1). Use the J23771 until the seal is flush with the axle tube.
4. Lubricate the seal lips using axle lubricant.
5. Install the axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement.
6. Install the brake drum or rotor.
7. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
