Oil Filter: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Raise the vehicle and support with safety stands. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the oil filter from the engine block.
3. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

Installation Procedure





1. Lubricate the oil filter gasket with clean engine oil.
2. Install the oil filter to the engine block.
3. Tighten the oil filter following the instructions on the filter.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the oil pan drain plug to the oil pan.

^ Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).

5. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
6. Fill the crankcase with the recommended capacity and grade of oil.

7. Operate the engine check for proper oil pressure and for any leaks.
