Engine Accessory Bracket: Service and Repair


Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Replacement.
2. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
3. Remove the engine cooling fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Cooling System.
4. Remove the engine drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
5. Remove the fan pulley.
6. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (2.2L) or Generator Replacement (4.3L).
7. Remove the A/C compressor, if equipped. Refer to Compressor Replacement (2.2L) or Compressor Replacement (4.3L) in Heating and Air Conditioning.
8. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (2.2L) or Power Steering Pump Replacement (4.3L) in Steering and Suspension.
9. Remove the thermostat assembly. Refer to Thermostat Replacement (2.2L) or Thermostat Replacement (4.3L) in Cooling System.





10. Remove the bolts holding the accessory mounting bracket to the engine.
11. Remove the accessory mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the accessory mounting bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolts holding the accessory mounting bracket to the engine.

^ Tighten the accessory mounting bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the thermostat assembly. Refer to Thermostat Replacement (2.2L) or Thermostat Replacement (4.3L) in Cooling System.
4. Install the A/C compressor, if equipped. Refer to Compressor Replacement (2.2L) or Compressor Replacement (4.3L) in Heating and Air Conditioning.
5. Install the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (2.2L) or Power Steering Pump Replacement (4.3L) in Steering and Suspension.
6. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (2.2L) or Generator Replacement (4.3L).





7. Install the fan pulley.

^ Tighten the fan pulley bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

8. Install the engine drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
9. Install the engine cooling fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Cooling System.
10. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
11. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Replacement.
