Diagnostic Starting Point
Important: It is important to identify which Antilock Brake System (ABS) is being diagnosed. If the vehicle is a four-door utility, it can either have an 310 ABS or 325 ABS. Otherwise, the S/T vehicle should be equipped with the 325 ABS. Refer to ABS Description for more details between the two systems.
Begin system diagnosis with A Diagnostic System Check (310 ABS) or A Diagnostic System Check (325 ABS) or A Diagnostic System Check (310 ABS) or A Diagnostic System Check (325 ABS). The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information:
^ Identification of the control module(s) which command the system.
^ The ability of the control module(s) to communicate through the serial data circuit.
^ Identification of stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and their status.
The use of the ABS Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.
