Condition
Some customers may comment on the power antenna doing the following:
^ Will not go up all the way
^ Will not go down all the way
^ Will not move at all
Cause
The 0-ring/cap nut material may not be compatible with the lubricant used on the antenna mast. This incompatibility may cause the 0-ring/cap nut to enlarge and place a drag on the antenna mast, restricting its movement.
Correction
Inspect the antenna mast and housing for damage (bent mast or housing). If damaged, perform the normal non-warranty repair. Otherwise, if no damage is present, perform the following repair:
1. Turn the radio entertainment system to the OFF position.
2. Place the ignition key in the OFF position and remove the key from the key switch.
Important:
Do not allow the antenna to be activated while the 0-ring assembly/cap nut is removed from the antenna. Allowing the antenna to activate with the 0-ring assembly/cap nut removed will allow the antenna mast to come completely out of the assembly.
3. Using an adjustable wrench, loosen and remove the antenna 0-ring assembly/cap nut.
4. Install the new 0-ring assembly/cap nut to the antenna mast, finger tight, then tighten 1/4 additional turn.
5. Place the ignition key in the key switch and turn to the run position. Turn ON the radio.
6. With the antenna in the full up position, clean the mast with a clean rag.
