Oil Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair


^ Tools Required
- J 41712 0il Pressure Switch Socket.

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine oil pressure gauge sensor.
4. Hold the engine oil pressure gauge sensor fitting with a wrench.

Important: Note the alignment of the engine oil pressure gauge sensor fitting prior to removal.

5. Remove the engine oil pressure gauge sensor using J 41712.





6. Remove the engine oil pressure sensor fitting, if necessary.


Installation Procedure





1. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent to the threads of the engine oil pressure sensor fitting.

Important: Do not loosen the oil pressure sensor fitting after the initial torque has been obtained.

2. Install the engine oil pressure gauge sensor fitting
^ Tighten the engine oil pressure gauge sensor fitting to 15 Nm (15 inch lbs.).

Important: Do not rotate the engine oil pressure sensor fitting more than 359° after the initial torque has been obtained.

3. Rotate the engine oil pressure sensor fitting clockwise to the proper position (1), 50° from the centerline (2).





4. Install the oil pressure sensor.
5. Hold the oil pressure sensor fitting with a wrench to prevent from turning.
^ Using J 41712 tighten the oil pressure sensor to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the electrical connector.
7. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
