Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement (Left)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
2. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the distributor cap. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement.
3. Remove the PCV valve from the valve rocker arm cover and set it aside.
4. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector. Refer to Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Replacement.
5. Remove AIR bypass hose assembly, if so equipped. Refer to Air Injection Check Valve/Pipe Replacement.
6. In order to gain access, remove the A/C compressor, if equipped. Refer to Compressor Replacement in Heating and Air Conditioning.
7. Remove the power steering pulley from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement (Gasoline) or Power Steering Pulley Replacement (Diesel) in Steering and Suspension.
8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bracket. Refer to Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement (Left) or Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement (Right).
9. Lay the power steering pump and the power steering pump bracket aside.
10. Remove the left valve rocker arm cover and gasket from the engine.
11. Clean all sealing surfaces.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the left valve rocker arm cover and gasket to the engine.
^ Tighten the bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
2. Install the power steering pump bracket. Refer to Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement (Left) or Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement (Right).
3. Install the Power Steering Pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
4. Install the A/C compressor, if equipped. Refer to Compressor Replacement in Heating and Air Conditioning.
5. Connect the ETC sensor electrical connector. Refer to Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Replacement.
6. Install the PCV valve to the valve rocker arm cover.
7. Install AIR bypass hose assembly, if so equipped. Refer to Air Injection Check Valve/Pipe Replacement.
8. Connect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement.
9. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
