Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure1. Complete the lever pin up procedure. Refer to Enabling the Park Brake Automatic Adjuster.
2. Remove the release handle. Refer to Park Brake Release Handle Replacement.
3. Remove the left side kick panel. Refer to Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar.
4. Remove the front brake cable from the lever.
5. Remove the lever retaining nuts.
6. Remove the lever from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Pin up the NEW lever. Refer to Enabling the Park Brake Automatic Adjuster.
2. Install the lever to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the lever retaining nuts.
Tighten the lever retaining nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the front brake cable to the lever.
5. Install the release handle. Refer to Park Brake Release Handle Replacement.
6. Install the left side kick panel by snapping into the pillar. Refer to Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar.
7. Remove the pin from the lever.
8. Move the lever into the FULL up position.
9. Verify that the vehicle will hold position with the brake lever depressed.
10. If additional adjustments need to be made, refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment.
