Master Cylinder Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Apply the park brake.
2. Disconnect the brake pipes from the brake master cylinder.
3. Plug the brake pipes in order to prevent brake fluid contamination.
4. Remove the nuts (Brake Master Cylinder Mounting Nuts) that connect the brake master cylinder to the brake booster (vacuum booster shown).
5. Remove the brake master cylinder from the brake booster.
Installation Procedure
1. Before you install the master cylinder, bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding.
2. Install the brake master cylinder to the brake booster (hydraulic booster shown).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the brake master cylinder mounting nuts.
Tighten the brake master cylinder mounting nuts to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
4. Remove the plugs from the brake pipes.
5. Connect the brake pipes to the brake master cylinder.
Tighten the brake pipe fittings to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
6. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure Bleeding) in Brake Bleeding.
7. Release the park brake.
