8 1/2 and 9 1/2 Inch Ring Gear

Removal Procedure

Important: Clean dirt, grease, and other foreign material from the hose fittings on both ends of the brake hose before servicing brake components.





1. Disconnect the rear brake pipe from the brake hose.
2. Remove the retaining nut and retaining clip from the front of the rear brake hose.





3. Disconnect the rear brake pipes on the rear axle from the brake hose.
4. Remove the retaining bolt of the rear brake hose from the rear axle.
5. Remove the brake hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the rear brake hose to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Connect the rear brake pipes on the axle to the brake hose.
Tighten the rear brake pipes to the brake hose to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the retaining bolt of the rear brake hose to the rear axle.
Tighten the retaining bolt of the rear brake hose to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

Important: Make sure the brake hose is not twisted. Make sure the brake hose is not in contact with any suspension components.





4. Install the retaining nut and retaining clip to the front of the rear brake hose.
5. Connect the rear brake pipe to the brake hose.
6. Bleed the brake hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure Bleeding) in Brake Bleeding.
