10 1/2 Inch Ring Gear

Removal Procedure

Important: Clean dirt, grease, and other foreign material from the hose fittings on both ends of the brake hose before servicing brake components.





1. Disconnect the frame mounted rear brake pipe from the brake hose.
2. Disconnect the rear brake hose from the rear brake hose bracket by removing the retainer.





3. Disconnect the rear brake pipes on the rear axle from the brake hose.





4. Remove the bolt that retains the rear brake hose to the bracket on the rear axle.
5. Remove the rear brake hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the rear brake hose to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolt that retains the rear brake hose to the bracket on the rear axle.
Tighten the bolt that retains the rear brake hose to the bracket to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Connect the rear brake pipes on the rear axle to the rear brake hose.
Tighten the rear brake pipes to the rear brake hose to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

Important: Make sure the brake hose is not twisted. Make sure the brake hose is not in contact with any suspension components.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





4. Install the rear brake hose to the frame mounted rear brake hose bracket with the retainer.
Tighten the retainer to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
5. Connect the frame mounted rear brake pipe to the rear brake hose with the existing nut.
Tighten the nut that retains the frame mounted rear brake pipe to the rear brake hose to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
6. Bleed the brake hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure Bleeding) in Brake Bleeding.
