Radio Operation During an Alert

The following sequence will occur when an alert if detected:
1. If the playback device is in use, the radio will immediately switch the audio to the tuner. If the playback device is in play, the radio will pause during the alert. If the playback devise is performing any other playback function, the radio will cancel the function.
2. The radio display will show ALARM. If the language specific provisions for PTY are available, the appropriate PTY-31 display characters will indicate.
3. The volume will be set to the greater of the following volumes:
^ The customer defined traffic alert
^ The current listening The minimum alert

During an alert the user may adjust the volume.

When the alert is complete, the following events will occur:
^ The volume will return to the previous lever unless the user changes the lever during the alert. If the user modifies the volume, the volume will remain at the modified level.
^ The playback devise will return to play if the device pauses during the alert.

If the playback function was active, the radio will return to the tuner mode. If the tuner was active, the display will return to PS and TOD.
