Oil Pump Drive Shaft: Service and Repair


Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
3. Remove the turbocharger from the engine block. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement.
4. Remove the clamp and bolt from the engine block.





5. Remove the oil pump drive from the engine block.





6. Remove the oil pump drive gasket from the engine block.


Installation Procedure

Important: When replacing the oil pump drive gear, always use a oil pump drive gasket.





1. Install the oil pump drive gasket on the engine block.





Important: Clean the bore and apply a small amount of clean engine oil in the bore and the seal for the oil pump drive gear. The oil pump drive gear should slide into place with slight resistance. Do not force the oil pump drive gear into place.

2. install the oil pump drive in the engine block.





3. Install the oil pump drive clamp and bolt on the engine block.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the oil pump drive clamp bolt.
^ Tighten the bolt to 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the turbocharger on the engine block. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement.
6. Install the engine cover on the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement
7. Connect the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
