Engine Oil Dip Stick - Dip Stick Tube: Service and Repair


Removal Procedure





1. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly and air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
3. Remove the surge tank from the vehicle. Refer to Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Cooling System.
4. Remove the oil level indicator from the tube.





5. Remove the oil level indicator from the thermostat crossover.
6. Remove the engine oil level indicator tube at the left valve rocker arm cover.





7. Remove the oil engine level indicator tube O-ring from the engine oil tube.


Installation Procedure





1. Install the new O-ring seal to the oil level indicator tube.





2. Install the oil level indicator tube on the valve rocker arm cover.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the oil level indicator tube retaining bolt.
^ Tighten the bolt to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).





4. Install the oil level indicator to the thermostat cross over.
5. Install the retaining bolts to the thermostat cross over
^ Tighten the bolt to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the oil level indicator in the tube.
7. Install the surge tank in the vehicle. Refer to Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Cooling System.
8. Install the engine cover in the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
9. Install the air cleaner assembly and air intake duct.
