Pilot Bearing: Service and Repair


Removal Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J 34839 Pinion Bearing Remover
- J 37764 Pilot Bearing Remover Adaptor
- J 23907 Clutch Pilot Bearing Remover





1. Remove the manual transmission assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
2. Remove the pressure plate and the clutch disc from the flywheel. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
3. Remove the clutch pilot bearing (1) from the crankshaft using the J 37764, J 34839 and the J 23907
4. Inspect the clutch pilot bearing (1) for scoring, binding or rough operation.
5. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J 7079-2 Driver Handle
- J 34848 Clutch Pilot Bearing Installer





1. Install the clutch bearing into the crankshaft using the J 34848 with the J 7079-2.
2. Install the clutch disc and the pressure plate to the flywheel (1). Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
3. Install the manual transmission assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
