Suspension Component Inspection - Rear Suspension

SHOCK ABSORBER INSPECTION
- Inspect the shock absorber for deformation or damage.





- Inspect the bushings for wear or damage.
- Inspect the shock absorber for evidence of oil leakage. Replace any defective part.

LOWER CONTROL ARM, UPPER CONTROL ARM, REAR AXLE TIE ROD INSPECTION





- Inspect the lower control arm (5) for cracks, deformation, or damage.
- Inspect the upper control arm (3) for cracks, deformation, or damage.
- Inspect the rear axle tie rod (4) for cracks, deformation, or damage.
- Inspect the bushings for wear and damage. Replace any defective part.

AXLE HOUSING AND COIL SPRING INSPECTION





- Inspect the coil spring (1) for cracks, deformation, or damage.
- Inspect the axle housing (2) for evidence of oil leakage. Replace any defective part.

Rear Suspension Fasteners
Inspect for tightness each bolt and nut used for fastening suspension parts. Tighten loose fasteners to the specified torque. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications.

BEARING RETAINER AND AXLE SHAFT INNER OIL SEAL INSPECTION





- Inspect the backside of the brake backing plate (1) for oil leakage. If you find any leakage, replace the defective oil seal.





- Inspect the oil seal lip (1). If you find any oil leakage or a worn lip, replace the defective oil seal.
- Inspect inside of the brake drum for grease or oil leakage.
