Front Suspension
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Partially raise and support the vehicle. Allow the suspension to hang free.
2. Remove the front suspension support brace (2), if equipped. Refer to Front Suspension Support Brace Replacement.
3. Raise the vehicle in order to allow access to the front brake hose.
4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
5. Disconnect the brake hose clip (5).
6. If equipped with ABS, remove the bolt (1) from the harness clamp of the front wheel speed sensor.
7. Support the lower control arm with a jack.
8. Remove the 2 strut bracket nuts (2) and the 2 strut bracket bolts (1). Hold the strut by hand so that the strut will not fall.
9. Remove the 3 strut support nuts.
10. Remove the strut.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the strut. Holding the strut in place, install the 3 strut support nuts (1).
- Tighten the strut support nuts to 55 Nm (40.0 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the 2 strut bracket bolts (1) to the strut bracket and the knuckle. Secure the strut to the knuckle with 2 strut bracket nuts.
- Tighten the strut bracket nuts to 95 Nm (69.0 ft. lbs.).
3. If equipped with ABS, install the bolt (1) to the harness clamp of the front wheel speed sensor.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT twist the hose during installation.
4. Install the brake hose (3) to the strut bracket (2).
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
6. Install the front suspension support brace (2), if equipped. Refer to Front Suspension Support Brace Replacement.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Inspect the wheel alignment. Refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment in Wheel Alignment.
